Workforce hub transitions to omj center

Beginning Sept. 30, all services provided in the Scioto Valley Forward Workforce Hub will move to the OhioMeansJobs Center in the Ross County Service Center.

The Hub will continue to provide career services at the OhioMeansJobs Center, located inside the Ross County Service Center, 475 Western Ave., Suite B. The center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

OMJ Van is on-the-Road

“OMJ VAN IS ON-THE-ROAD”: The OMJ Pike County Van is scheduled to visit Garnet A. Wilson Public Library

In an effort to provide the residents of the Pike County area with information about job and training services and resources that are available through the OMJ Career Center Pike County, the Workforce & Business Development Program at the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC) will be visiting various locations throughout the area each month in the OMJ Van. During these events, representatives will provide information about available jobs in the area, educational training opportunities, and supportive services for local job seekers through the grants that fund these programs.

The next “OMJ Van On-the-Road” Event will be:

  • Monday, September 29th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library (located at 207 N Market Street in Waverly)

COAD 4 Kids at Workforce Hub

COAD 4 Kids will be at the Workforce Hub from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Sept. 15 to discuss ways to become an in-home child care provider. COAD4kids is part of a statewide network of child care resource and referral agencies that has been serving as the Appalachian region’s information hub for child care and education services since 1993.

Ohio's childcare gap is a major crisis, leaving nearly two in five residents in childcare deserts and costing the state $5.48 billion annually in lost economic activity, according to a February 2025 report by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

The sessions will be held on August 20 & 27 and September 3 & 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

During each Coffee Chat, attendees can enjoy a relaxed, welcoming environment with complimentary coffee while speaking with Homeland Credit Union staff about important financial topics, including IRAs, budgeting, loan assistance programs, and more.

“These Coffee Chats are about more than finances,” said Shayne R. Poe, CEO. “We want to provide a space where our members can feel supported and have access to resources that may help them through this difficult transition.”

The Workforce & Business Development Program of the Community Action Committee of Pike County, is offering a two-hour Basic Computer Training Workshop on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at the OhioMeansJobs Center in Piketon, Ohio. Want to boost your job skills? Learn the computer basics that employers are looking for, such as using email, the Internet, Microsoft Word, and more! Perfect for beginners. No experience needed!
