Local partnership forms mill city relief fund to help families
CHILLICOTHE, OH — In a powerful demonstration of community solidarity, United Way of Ross County, Mill City Apparel, Ross County Banking Centers (a member of the VCNB Financial family), and Ross County Community Action have joined forces to launch the Mill City Resiliency Fund—a relief initiative designed to support individuals and families impacted by recent employment disruptions at the Mill.
The fund invites individuals, businesses, and organizations across Ross County to make monetary donations that will directly benefit Mill employees. “This initiative reflects the heart of our community,” said Andrea Williams, United Way of Ross County CEO and President. “As individuals, our reach may be limited—but when we unite, our support, our ideas, and our compassion grow exponentially.”
Contributions can be made at any of VCNB’s 16 banking centers, the United Way of Ross County office or website at www.unitedwayross.org, or Mill City Apparel.
Once the fund is fully established, Community Action will work with affected individuals to distribute gift cards in time for the holiday season—offering tangible relief and a message of care from their neighbors.
“When we unite our efforts, the impact we make as individuals multiplies,” said Tom Oyer, VCNB President. “The Mill City Resiliency Fund is financial support as well as a reminder that united, everyone becomes stronger.” There is no way to know the amount of funding that will be available to former mill employees at this time, but the intention is one of heartfelt care, concern, and to offer support.
The partnership between United Way, Mill City Apparel, Ross County Banking Centers, and Community Action exemplifies the power of collaboration in times of need.
“Mill City was built on the belief that community matters,” said Jarrod DePugh, Owner of Mill City Apparel. “We’re proud to work alongside these incredible partners to make sure no one faces hardship alone. Together, we’re building something stronger for our Ross County community.”
The Mill City Resiliency Fund is a collaborative relief effort aimed at supporting Ross County residents affected by employment loss at the Mill. Through united giving and strategic partnerships, the fund will provide direct support to families during the holiday season.
Julie Bolen, Executive Director of Ross County Community Action, shared, “We are proud to be involved during such a difficult time for our neighbors and community. As the organizations build the fund with support from those who can get involved, it will be nice to offer support near the holidays to our Ross County neighbors impacted.”
