SVF Weekly report for 8/22
If you would like to see information included on this report, send us an email at contact@sciotovalleyforward.com.
Here’s the report for the week ending Friday, Aug. 22:
At the Workforce Hub:
From Monday to Thursday, the Hub received 152 visits from people seeking help with job searches, enhancing interview skills, and resume building. This does not count visits at the Pike, Vinton, or Jackson OMJ centers. Displaced workers in those counties may choose to visit their local OMJ center rather than go to the Hub.
The Hub will be closed on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 1), but will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday to assist workers.
SVF saw an 54% increase in visits and unique visitors from Aug. 16 to 21.
New events:
Last week, a new advanced manufacuring training began at Pickaway-Ross Adult Education, provided by a grant to the United Steelworkers Local 689. Twenty-one individuals began this training, including about 16 former Pixelle workers. If there is continued interest in another training in this area, USW is considering offering a second session.
As we said last week, a new Ross County Employment Expo is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25. We already have 20-plus employers signed up, but if your company is looking for workers and would like to set up, click here to get registered.
New job opportunities:
Accurate Heating Cooling and Plumbing will be at the Workforce Hub from 1 to 2 p.m. and Goodwill Industries from Noon to 3 p.m. on Monday doing open interviews. See our events page for a schedule of upcoming employers scheduled for on-site interviews at the Workforce Hub.
NEW PeopleShores PBC is hiring 100 people for roles in Jeffersonville by Sept. 22. Click here for details and there’s no application, just click here to apply.
A REMINDER: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking for folks willing to take civilian positions with the patrol. They’ve scheduled and information session for Tuesday, Sept. 23. Read more here.
Any word on a buyer for the mill?
No new news on this front.
